Reconstruction of a find from Lincolnshire, England. But actually such combs were much more typical for East Scandinavia and Balkans.
In the Baltic culture combs like these, had a magical meaning, and were worn on the belt as amulets, protecting the wearer from his enemies. It was also believed that if someone would throw a comb on the ground between him and his enemy, a big shrubbery would grow in that place, blocking the enemy's way.
Made in cast bronze. It's 4,7cm (1,85 inch) wide and 3,6cm (1,41 inch) high. The original is dated 11th-12th century AD.
